So, I had gone with Tori to the Neurology Center at Primary Children's for Blayke's tests and while we were there we had to go to the lab to have her blood done. I took Crew with us and forgot the stroller so I was carrying him in his bucket carseat. While in the lab all I kept thinking about were the germs (because there are SO many REALLY REALLY sick kids) so I kept putting the carseat up on the chairs to keep it off the floor. Anyway, I had put the carseat up on the chair arms not realizing they were curved. Tori was trying to make a bottle while holding Blayke so I laid Crew in his seat to help Tori and as I turned the carseat with Crew in it fell off the chair onto the concrete floor. He cried but I didn't see anything wrong. The next day, Saturday, my friend Susannah and her 2 little boys came to visit and she said, 'Wow, Crew has a really big head!' I said, 'he does?' Then Susannah says, 'does he always have this bulge on the side of his head?' I said, 'Holy shit - NO!' It was a blood filled pocket on the side of his head. I ran him to the ER - they transferred us to Primary's. He had a CT scan and they found he had fractured his skull (just a millimeter fracture) and a bruise. We stayed the night in a shared room, babies crying all night long, it was a LONG night. Crew was discharged the next morning. They said he will be fine and just wanted him to stay the night as a precaution. The blood will slowly reabsorb and go away. They said NEVER EVER EVER put a baby in an unbuckled Carseat. Often one parent lays baby in carseat and other parent picks up baby and baby slides out. Anyway, I snapped a few pics of him so cute in his hospital crib with my iPhone.
Susannah and Witney watched the boys while I was at the hospital - Thanks so Much. It was so nice to know they were in good hands while I was up there. Wit said all the kids had so much fun together!
What a nightmare. Literally, I think I have had this nightmare at one point since having kids. I felt so awful - I didn't even give him Tylenol that first night. He just smiled and was such a good baby. He didn't even move during his scan. What a LOVE BUG!
Wish I would have gotten some pictures of Susannah, Mason and Huddy - they were so cute and LOVED our trainset (finally, it has come to good use)! So thankful they were here to keep my kids busy and playing.
